Emergency Response Protocols
Injured or Ill Person
Assist the person only if the surrounding area and environmental conditions are safe.
If the person appears to have a physical injury, confirm that the possible equipment, object, or species that resulted in the injury is no longer an imminent danger to the area.
If the person does not appear to have a physical injury, be aware of potential environmental hazards that could include odorless gasses and other toxins.
If the person is unreachable, unresponsive, or is experiencing extreme discomfort call 911 immediately.
In assisting an injured or ill person take appropriate measures to prevent an injury or illness of your own while also preventing, if possible, further injury or intensifying the illness the person is experiencing.
Use extreme caution and wear appropriate protective equipment if bodily fluids are present.
If emergency supplies are required (e.g First Aid Kit or AED) notify someone else to collect the appropriate supplies if possible.
Once you’ve began providing aid to a person try to remain with them, if possible, until the person has been either stabilized or when emergency personnel have arrived.
